Prime Minister Edi Rama announced that a major new investment will soon take place between Kavaja and Durrës.
He made the statement during the 35th anniversary event of the Socialist Party in Fier. Furthermore, Rama said Albania will continue to attract large-scale investments. He added that another major project will soon be presented to the public.
“Very soon you will see another big investment,” Rama said. “It will be located between Kavaja and Durrës. I am curious to see what people will say about it.”
In addition, he compared Albania with regional countries. He said neighbors like Greece, Croatia, and Montenegro have already benefited from large tourism investments.
He argued that Albania should not fall behind. He stressed that development depends on investment and economic growth. Moreover, Rama criticized those opposing foreign investment. He said Albania must remain open to investors who support development.
“Who are they to say ‘Albania is ours’ and tell others to leave?” he said. “People speak through elections.”
He also responded to social media criticism about wages, pensions, healthcare, and rising prices. Furthermore, he said the government recognizes the need for higher salaries and better living standards.
He noted that average wages have increased significantly in recent years. He said Albania started with low salary levels and has made progress, but more improvement is needed.
In addition, he said pensions and public services will also increase over time. However, he stressed that economic growth depends on investment and development.
“The question is how we increase wages,” Rama said. “If we reject investors, how will the economy grow?”
Finally, he said Albania’s future development depends on attracting investment and continuing economic expansion.
