Peleshi Meets Greek Counterpart: Greece Supports Albania’s EU Membership

Speaker of Parliament Niko Peleshi held an official visit in Athens, where he met the Speaker of the Hellenic Parliament Nikitas Kaklamanis.

Furthermore, the visit took place as part of Albania’s parliamentary diplomacy tour with key strategic partners in Europe and the region.

During the meeting, both sides praised the close friendly relations between Albania and Greece. They highlighted shared strategic interests and cooperation within NATO.

In addition, they stressed the importance of strengthening political and parliamentary dialogue. They said this cooperation supports further development of bilateral relations.

Peleshi thanked Greece for its continued support of Albania’s EU integration process. He also noted Albania’s progress in accession negotiations and reaffirmed the goal of completing them by 2027.

Meanwhile, Greek Parliament Speaker Nikitas Kaklamanis reaffirmed Greece’s support for Albania’s EU membership. He said deeper parliamentary cooperation can further strengthen bilateral ties.

Moreover, the two sides discussed economic cooperation. They noted growth in trade, investment, infrastructure projects, and tourism flows.

As a result, both countries see strong potential to expand economic relations further.

In addition, special attention focused on the Albanian community in Greece and the Greek minority in Albania. Both were described as important bridges between the two nations.

“Two important bridges connect our countries,” Peleshi said. “The Greek minority in Albania and the Albanian community in Greece strengthen cooperation and prosperity.”

Furthermore, both sides stressed the need to resolve all issues through dialogue and constructive engagement. They emphasized respect for good neighborly relations, international law, and shared strategic interests.

Finally, both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening friendship and strategic partnership. They highlighted parliamentary cooperation as a key tool for regional stability, security, and peace.
