Grazia: Albania cheaper than Spain and Portugal, ideal summer destination in Europe, says French media

TIRANA, June 10 – Albania has emerged as one of the most attractive summer destinations for 2026 due to lower costs and Mediterranean landscapes, according to an article by Luce Picat published in the French media outlet Grazia.fr.

Meanwhile, the article said rising prices across Europe continue to affect family budgets. It said popular destinations in Spain and Portugal have become increasingly expensive. It added that Albania is gaining attention as an affordable alternative for quality holidays.

In addition, Grazia.fr described Albania as a “pearl of the Balkans”. It said the country sits between the Adriatic and Ionian seas and faces the Italian coast while bordering Greece.

At the same time, the article highlighted improved accessibility. It pointed to an increase in direct flights to Tirana and sea connections from the Greek island of Corfu.

Meanwhile, it said the Albanian Riviera, historic towns, and cultural heritage sites attract growing international interest. It mentioned Ksamil beaches, Berat as a UNESCO World Heritage site, and the Blue Eye spring as key attractions.

In addition, the article said Albania’s low cost of living remains a major advantage. It reported that coffee costs around 50 cents and local beer costs under 3 euros. It also said accommodation in traditional guesthouses can start from 25 euros per night.

Finally, Grazia.fr said Albania is still preserving its authenticity despite tourism growth. It added that experts expect infrastructure investments to transform the sector further, while recommending June and September as the best months to visit.
