The end of a relationship does not always come with mutual understanding. In many cases, it is followed by controlling, threatening, or stalking behavior that becomes a source of fear and insecurity for victims.

According to INSTAT, around 18.1% of women aged 18 to 74 have experienced stalking at least once in their lifetime, while 8.9% reported being victims of stalking during the 12 months preceding the survey.

Experts emphasize that stalking should not be viewed as a sign of persistence or jealousy, but rather as a form of psychological violence that can have serious consequences for those who experience it.

The phenomenon remains a concern according to police statistics as well. During 2025, authorities recorded 109 cases of stalking, indicating that the issue continues to be present in the country.

Sociologists are calling for greater awareness and reporting of such cases, stressing that timely intervention is essential to prevent situations from escalating and to ensure the safety of victims.
