Prime Minister Edi Rama reacted on social media about foreign investments and tourism development. He shared a Greek media article. The article reported new luxury hotel investments in Mykonos by major international brands.
First, Rama linked the topic to ongoing debates in Albania over large-scale investments, including the project in Zvërnec. Then, he stressed that Albania cannot close its doors to foreign capital.
Furthermore, he said the country has worked hard to attract international investors. Therefore, he argued that it makes no sense to block this process now that investments are finally increasing.
In addition, Rama compared Albania with other countries in the region. He said competitive economies measure success by attracting foreign investment, not by resisting it.
Moreover, he described opposition to such investments as an “invitation to collective backwardness.” Finally, he stated that Albania cannot and should not accept economic regression.
Meanwhile, the cited article highlighted growing tourism investments in Mykonos. It mentioned luxury hotel brands such as Four Seasons and other high-end developments.
It also noted increased airline capacity and stronger international connections for the 2026 season.
