TIRANA, June 12 – Prime Minister Edi Rama said there is no provocation or confrontation linked to the timing of the Socialist Party anniversary event and a planned protest against the Zvërnec investment. He made the remarks in an interview on “Shqipëria Live” on Top Channel. He also commented on recent protests.
Rama said electoral support for the government does not exclude differing opinions in society. He added that citizens in a democratic system have the right to express disagreement.
At the same time, he said the government is responsible for implementing its programme, including the country’s European Union integration agenda. He added that other groups express opposition through protest.
Rama addressed the timing of the two events. He said preparations for the anniversary event began months before the announcement of the protest against the Zvërnec investment. He added that the date is fixed due to the founding anniversary and cannot be changed.
He also said the timing reflects logistical and weather considerations. He noted that the anniversary programme will end earlier than the planned protest activity.
Rama said there is no intention of provocation or confrontation. He said democratic life continues through both governance and protest activity.
