TIRANA, June 15 – Himara municipality has started implementing changes to road circulation from today. The measures aim to manage vehicle flow more efficiently during the tourist season.
Mayor Vangjel Tavo told Albanian news agency (ATSH) that the changes entered into force following a decision by the municipal council. He said the new scheme covers traffic directions and circulation on several internal roads in Himara. The municipality introduced the measures as part of summer season preparations.
Traffic flow is expected to improve during peak months. The municipality anticipates a significant increase in visitors and vehicles. Road safety is also expected to improve. Congestion will decrease, and access to urban areas will become easier.
Himara remains one of the most sought-after tourist destinations on the Albanian coast. It attracts thousands of domestic and foreign visitors each year. For this reason, municipal priorities include traffic management and the organization of public spaces during the summer season. The municipality said the new scheme will support smoother circulation and improve the visitor experience for residents and tourists.
