Germany Reaffirms Strong Support for Albania’s EU Membership

Ferit Hoxha met with Günter Krichbaum during his visit to Luxembourg.

The two officials discussed Albania’s path toward European Union membership. They also reviewed the current momentum of the EU enlargement process.

Furthermore, Hoxha said they exchanged views on the opportunities created by the renewed focus on enlargement across Europe.

Both ministers stressed the importance of maintaining a credible and merit-based accession process. At the same time, they agreed that candidate countries should advance through concrete reforms and gradual integration into the European Union.

Moreover, they underlined the need for a process that brings candidate countries closer to the EU as they continue implementing reforms.

Hoxha also expressed appreciation for Germany’s consistent support for EU enlargement. In addition, he thanked Berlin for its strong backing of Albania’s bid to join the European Union.

As a result, the meeting reaffirmed the close cooperation between Albania and Germany on European integration issues.

Meanwhile, Germany continues to support a merit-based enlargement process and remains one of Albania’s key partners on its path toward EU membership.
