TIRANA, June 18 – More than 500 farmers in Gjirokastër Municipality have applied for support under the National Agriculture Support Scheme. Applications were submitted through the Agency for Agricultural and Rural Development.
Meanwhile, Agriculture Specialist Balil Bineri said most applications focus on four support measures. Farmers have shown the strongest interest in registered cattle herds, small livestock, beekeeping, and cultivated agricultural land.
According to Bineri, the application process has entered its intensive phase. He said authorities are currently in the middle of the application period. These measures have attracted the highest interest because they offer the most direct benefits for farming activities.
In addition, three other measures have received less interest from applicants. Bineri linked the lower demand to the specific requirements of those schemes. They include support for fishing, organic farms, and global certification of agricultural products.
At the same time, the National Agriculture Support Scheme remains an important tool for the sector. It helps encourage investment, improve production, and strengthen rural economies.
Following the application period, authorities will review submitted files. Farmers will then await the announcement of subsidy beneficiaries.
