Kakavija border crossing to Greece increases capacity ahead of summer travel surge

TIRANA, June, 18 – Authorities at the Kakavija border crossing to Greece increased operational capacity to manage higher traffic during the summer season. Border and customs services also intensified their work to facilitate the movement of travellers.

The measures include additional active checkpoints during peak hours. Meanwhile, teams reorganised vehicle flows at the crossing. Field personnel also continue operations around the clock.

During the last 24 hours, authorities recorded about 4,000 entries and exits by Albanian and foreign citizens. In addition, services processed around 1,500 vehicles. Officials reported shorter waiting times than in previous days.

According to authorities at the Kakavija border crossing to Greece, better coordination among institutions increased inspection efficiency. At the same time, teams are using existing capacities to ensure smoother traffic in both directions.

During peak periods, personnel apply flexible lane management. As a result, services can reduce queues and facilitate vehicle movement more effectively.

The measures will remain in force throughout the summer season. Their aim is to ensure fast, safe and efficient service at this key crossing between Albania and Greece.
