Rama: European Parliament Amendment Not Related to Zvërnec Project

Prime Minister Edi Rama rejected claims that a recent European Parliament amendment targets the Zvërnec investment project.

Rama stated that the amendment does not concern Zvërnec and criticized attempts to connect the two issues. He argued that some groups have misinterpreted the resolution and spread inaccurate information about its purpose.

He emphasized that authorities have not yet approved a final project or issued a construction permit for the planned investment. Meanwhile, experts continue to carry out environmental impact assessments and technical evaluations.

Rama reaffirmed the government’s commitment to protecting the environment while promoting sustainable economic growth. He stressed that the project aims to combine tourism development with environmental restoration and long-term benefits for local communities.

Furthermore, he called for a fact-based public debate and urged critics to wait for the final project details before drawing conclusions. He added that the government will maintain transparency throughout the process and ensure compliance with national and European standards.

The Prime Minister’s comments came amid ongoing discussions over the proposed investment in Zvërnec and its potential impact on tourism, the economy, and the environment.
