Rama: EU Membership Remains Albania’s Unchanged Strategic Goal

Prime Minister Edi Rama reaffirmed Albania’s commitment to joining the European Union, describing membership as the country’s strategic and unwavering objective.

Speaking at the Future Investment Initiative (FII) forum in Rome, Rama discussed geopolitical developments, Albania’s EU integration process, and the country’s investment prospects.

First, he highlighted the importance of strengthening Europe’s political leadership and decision-making capacity in response to global challenges.

Referring to the Middle East, Rama said Albania maintains strong relations with countries across the region, except for what he described as the criminal regime in Tehran.

Furthermore, he argued that Europe’s main challenge is political coordination. According to Rama, Europe needs a stronger common vision, faster decision-making, and more effective implementation of agreed policies.

He also pointed to the situations in the Strait of Hormuz and Ukraine as examples where Europe should play a more active political role.

Moreover, Rama described the European Union as one of humanity’s most ambitious and successful political projects.

Despite existing challenges, he said Albanians remain deeply committed to the European idea and see their future within the EU.

“We want to join Europe because it is the right place to be,” Rama said.

Finally, he expressed confidence that Albania will achieve its goal of EU membership. He stressed that the country remains fully committed to the process and will continue moving forward on its European path.
