“Zvërnec”, Economy and Innovation Minister Ibrahimaj: Project still in study phase, any development must meet environmental standards

TIRANA, June 18 – The government has not yet approved a final project for a possible tourist resort in Zvërnec, Economy and Innovation Minister Delina Ibrahimaj said.

Speaking after the government meeting, Ibrahimaj said the process remains in the study and design phase. She added that no final project has been prepared for public presentation.

In addition, she said any future proposal will need to meet all environmental conditions and standards. The minister stressed that environmental compliance remains a key priority in line with cooperation with the European Union.

We are still in a study and design phase. The government does not yet have a final project to present to the public,” Ibrahimaj said. She added that any proposal will have to meet environmental requirements and EU standards.

Meanwhile, she said the government will review any submitted project that includes an environmental impact assessment before making it public. She also said Albania remains committed to ongoing negotiations with the European Union and its regulatory calendar across different sectors.

At the same time, Ibrahimaj said the government supports the continuation of investment projects that meet legal and environmental conditions. She said large-scale tourism projects are expected to contribute to the economy, tourism standards, and the wider hospitality sector.

Finally, she said Zvërnec attracts investors because of its natural environment. She added that protecting nature remains in both public and investor interest, as it represents a key value for tourism development.
