After the 21st Day of Protests, Some Demonstrators Spend the Night Outside the Prime Minister’s Office

As previously announced following Saturday’s mass protest, a group of demonstrators, most of them members of the Albanian diaspora, chose to spend the night in the square in front of the Prime Minister’s Office.

After marching around the government building and the Pyramid of Tirana, some protesters remained on the “Dëshmorët e Kombit” Boulevard until the early hours of the morning. Their presence was still visible around 7:00 a.m., as shown in photos taken at the scene.

On Saturday, marking the 21st consecutive day of protests, the Albanian diaspora also joined the demonstrations, with many emigrants arriving in Tirana in vehicles decorated with Albania’s red-and-black national flags.

For 21 days, protesters have been demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama and the departure of his government.

Unlike previous evenings, however, demonstrators did not march through the streets of the capital. Instead, they held a circular march around the Prime Minister’s Office before deciding to remain in the square overnight.
