Military exercise in Cape Gjuhëz area, navigation banned on June 23–24

The Municipality of Vlora has announced that navigation will be prohibited in the Cape Gjuhëz area on June 23 and 24, 2026, due to a coastal military exercise and live-fire drill conducted by the Albanian Armed Forces.

According to an official notice from the Ministry of Defense, Military Unit No. 2030 – Southern Naval District will carry out exercises involving ship weaponry in the Bristan–Cape Gjuhëz area during these two days.

To ensure public safety and prevent any incidents, authorities have stressed that the navigation of all vessels will be strictly prohibited during the exercise period. This includes fishing boats, tourist vessels, speedboats and any other type of watercraft operating within the designated area.

The presence and movement of unauthorized persons in the coastal areas affected by the exercise will also be prohibited, as will fishing activities and marine tourism operations during the live-fire drills.

The security zone has been defined by the following coordinates:

  • 40°25’00” N – 19°18’00” E
  • 40°25’00” N – 19°12’00” E
  • 40°20’00” N – 19°15’00” E
  • 40°20’00” N – 19°22’00” E

The Municipality of Vlora has called on fishermen, tourism operators, local residents and all businesses operating in the area to cooperate and follow the instructions of the authorities, avoiding any movement within the security perimeter on June 23–24, 2026.
