Prime Minister Edi Rama responded to questions from France24 about the protest against the Zvërnec project. He said several outside actors have influenced the movement.
“There is a lot of interference. Iran has targeted us during a three-year cyber conflict. Regional competitors also oppose this development in Albania. However, some protesters have genuine concerns. Part of the population wants different things. However, voters elected us to deliver on our promises, and this project is one of them,” he said.
Rama also highlighted a difference between public opinion in Tirana and Vlora.
“People protest in Tirana. Meanwhile, people in Vlora, where we plan the project, support it,” he added.
