Balkan Film Food Festival, annual festival in Pogradec

The 16th edition of the Balkan Film and Culinary Festival is taking place in Pogradec. It brings days filled with film, culture, taste, and inspiring encounters.

First, the festival runs from June 23 to June 27. It includes screenings, artist talks, and culinary activities. As a result, it offers a rich cultural program for audiences of all ages.

In addition, organizers invite art lovers to celebrate Balkan art, traditions, and diversity. The event is held on the scenic shores of Lake Ohrid, creating a unique cultural atmosphere.

Tonight at 19:00, the film “Maricel” will be shown at the “Lasgush Poradeci” cinema. The film follows a Filipina woman who travels to a mountain village in Cyprus. She arrives to care for an elderly couple.

At first, her job seems simple. However, the story gradually develops into a deeper emotional narrative. It explores silence, emotional dependence, and unspoken truths.

Meanwhile, the next day is dedicated to short films from the University of Prishtina and the University of Tirana. These films will be screened in the evening in the main square of Pogradec.

Furthermore, the festival program includes feature films, documentaries, and animated works. It also features pre-1990 Albanian cinema classics.

For example, “Komisari i dritës” by Dhimitër Anagnosti and Viktor Gjika is part of the retrospective selection.
