TIRANA, June 25 – Justice Minister Toni Gogu said Albania now stands closer than ever to European Union membership and urged the country not to miss what he called a historic moment.
In a social media post, Gogu said he joined a discussion on Wednesday with students from the College of Europe and former French President François Hollande. The discussion focused on the future of the European project.
He said Albania’s friends and partners have made clear that the country now stands nearer than ever to joining the European Union. According to Gogu, that message should strengthen the government’s resolve to continue reforms and press ahead with its work.
At the same time, he said European integration goes beyond a political objective. He described it as a guarantee for a fairer Albania, a stronger state and more opportunities for every citizen.
Gogu also said the country now faces a historic opportunity. He stressed that Albania must not let that moment slip away.
