Foreign direct investment in Albania increased by 12% in the first quarter of 2026, reaching around 404 million euros.
Banka e Shqipërisë reported that inflows rose from 361 million euros in the same period last year to 404 million euros this year. As a result, foreign investor interest in the Albanian economy continued to grow.
Austria was the leading investor during this period. It invested about 60 million euros, nearly double compared to the previous year. Austrian investments focused mainly on banking, insurance, telecommunications, and energy.
Italy ranked second with 49 million euros in investments. It recorded a slight increase compared to the previous year. Meanwhile, the Netherlands followed in third place with a slightly lower level of investment.
In addition, Turkey invested 47 million euros, while Kosovo contributed 32 million euros. Consequently, several regional and European partners remained active in the Albanian market.
Overall, the data shows a steady upward trend in foreign investment. This reflects continued confidence in Albania’s economic outlook.
