Ashura marked in Tirana, Baba Mondi calls for peace and compassion

TIRANA, June 26 – Bektashi believers marked the Day of Ashura on Thursday.

The observance follows ten days of mourning in the Bektashi calendar. It commemorates Imam Hussein and 72 martyrs killed in the Battle of Karbala.

Meanwhile, a ceremony took place at the World Bektashi Headquarters in Tirana. Haxhi Dede Edmond Brahimaj, known as Baba Mondi, offered prayers for peace, goodwill, and an end to global conflicts.

He stressed the importance of good deeds, especially during difficult global times. He said humanity needs more peace and compassion.

In addition, Baba Mondi called on people to support each other and preserve family and faith values. He also prayed for those affected by war and asked for wisdom and brotherhood among nations.

Baba Mondi said God should enlighten minds during current challenges and bless everyone.
