Customs officials and postal operators from across the region met in Tirana to improve the security of postal and express deliveries. The meeting took place under the Hermes Project, led by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).
During the meeting, participants discussed current challenges. They also shared control methods, exchanged information, and explored ways to identify suspicious shipments.
Furthermore, Director General of Customs Besmir Beja said the talks focused on stronger regional cooperation and better operational capacity. As a result, institutions aim to improve the safety of the postal supply chain.
In addition, Beja stressed that Albanian Customs remains committed to regional initiatives. It continues to support efforts that strengthen supply chain security and combat cross-border illegal activities.
Finally, the meeting aimed to improve control mechanisms and information sharing. Consequently, authorities hope to prevent and detect illegal activities carried out through postal and express delivery services.
