TIRANA, June 30 – Hysni Gucati leads the Organization of Veterans of the Kosova Liberation Army (KLA). He spoke about the lack of a Law on War Values. He said this gap allows individuals to speak on behalf of the former armed group.
Meanwhile, he said authorities should not use the KLA flag or emblem in protests or political campaigns in Kosova or Albania. He made the statement during a press conference. He also answered questions on statements by officials in Albania and the use of the KLA flag in protests. He noted the lack of reactions from veteran organizations.
In addition, he said he has repeatedly asked for the flag not to appear in public demonstrations in Kosova. He stressed that citizens of Kosova should not join political protests in Albania. He described such protests as an internal matter of Albania.
At the same time, he said support for Albania applies only in case of an external threat.
Finally, he said the Law on War Values remains the main issue. He said lawmakers have received the draft several times but have not approved it. He added that veterans will organize protests to demand its adoption. He said the law would protect war values and prevent misuse of the KLA name and symbols.
