Ibrahimaj: Copyright Protection Drives Innovation and Fair Competition

Minister of Economy and Innovation Delina Ibrahimaj has stressed the importance of respecting copyright. She said it is not only a legal obligation but also a key way to support creativity, innovation, and fair competition.

In a social media message, Ibrahimaj noted that people enjoy music, films, books, photographs, and digital applications, especially during the summer. However, she reminded the public that every creative work reflects the talent, effort, and dedication of its creator.

The minister explained that copyright infringement includes using, copying, reproducing, distributing, publishing, or making protected works available without the permission of the author or rights holder when the law requires such authorization.

Furthermore, businesses that offer copyrighted works must obtain the necessary licenses. This requirement helps protect creators and ensures that intellectual property rights are respected.

Ibrahimaj also highlighted the role of the State Market Surveillance Inspectorate, which monitors compliance with intellectual property legislation. The inspectorate protects the rights of authors and rights holders while raising awareness among consumers and businesses about the importance of respecting copyright.

She concluded that protecting copyright encourages innovation, rewards creative work, and helps build a fair and competitive market.
