Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Andis Salla and Vlora Mayor Brunilda Mersini visited the new facility after the Municipality of Vlora took ownership.
The government invested €1.5 million in the project. The market covers 1,300 square meters and includes 15 cold storage rooms. It connects directly to the Fishing Port and the New Commercial Port of Vlora.
The new facility will store, process, and market fish products under European Union standards. It will improve food safety and help Albania increase seafood exports.
The market will also make work easier for local fishermen. They will no longer need their own storage facilities or separate certifications. Instead, they will bring their catch to one modern center for storage and distribution.
The facility will serve 28 fishing vessels. It will strengthen the fisheries sector, improve market access, and create new opportunities for economic growth.
