A new cooperation memorandum has been signed at the Pashaliman Naval Base in Vlora between Italy’s Fincantieri, the Albanian state company KAYO, and the Industrial School “Pavarësia”. The agreement focuses on training programs, internships, and job opportunities in the naval construction industry.
Fincantieri CEO Pierroberto Folgiero stressed that human capital plays the most important role in the shipbuilding industry. He said that without skilled workers, there is no industrial success.
He explained that the company operates globally with a long industrial history and thousands of ships built, and it continues to invest heavily in talent development.
Folgiero said that every euro invested in shipbuilding generates at least four times more value for the economy. As a result, he added, the sector can create strong economic and social development.
He also announced that the company plans to create around 500 jobs in Albania through this project. These jobs will include electricians, mechanics, engineers, and other skilled professionals needed for shipbuilding.
In addition, Fincantieri aims to build an ecosystem that starts with human resources and expands into wider economic growth linked to the naval industry.
Folgiero confirmed that the company plans to build 10 vessels between 2026 and 2030, each up to 80 meters long. He said the project will expand gradually and strengthen industrial capacity in Albania.
The agreement also connects the company with the “Pavarësia” school to train students and support them even after graduation. According to Folgiero, cooperation will continue through 2026 to prepare the workforce for active operations by 2027.
