Apolonia Archaeological Park declared immovable cultural heritage, new management plan approved

TIRANA, July 1 – The Council of Ministers declared the Apolonia Archaeological Park an immovable cultural heritage asset, also approving its boundary definition, zoning, and a new protection and management plan.

The Albanian government said the new status applies in line with the official zoning map and coordinates set in the Albanian Geodetic Reference Framework (KRGJSH), which form an integral part of the decision.

In addition, the authorities approved a dedicated plan for preservation, protection and administration of the site. The measure aims to strengthen cultural heritage safeguards and improve management of one of the country’s key archaeological sites.

The State Authority for Geospatial Information will publish the updated map on the National Geoportal. Meanwhile, the State Cadastre Agency will register the decision in accordance with current legislation.

The Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport, together with the Apolonia Archaeological Park Administration Unit and Fier Municipality, will be responsible for implementation.

The decision enters into force after publication in the Official Gazette.
