July tourist surge lifts Shkodër and Albanian Alps alongside coast

TIRANA, July 2 – July has opened with a strong influx of visitors across Shkodra County, where tourist activity now extends well beyond Velipoja’s beaches to the city and the Albanian Alps.

Travellers from across Europe continue to choose Albania for their summer holidays, turning Shkodra into a key stop on many itineraries. Visitors praise the region’s dramatic landscapes, warm hospitality and distinctive attractions.

A tourist from London said hiking the Valbona-Theth trail ranked among the highlights of the trip. The visitor added that Himara is the next destination and confirmed plans to return to Albania in September. A traveller from Norway said Shkodër offered an ideal stop between Tirana and Montenegro, while another visitor, who had just arrived, described the city as beautiful at first glance.

Interest in Albania has grown steadily in recent years. The combination of beaches, alpine scenery and historic towns continues to attract an increasingly diverse international audience.

If the current pace continues, Shkodër is likely to post another record summer season, further strengthening its position as one of Albania’s leading tourism destinations.
