U.S. Embassy Urges American Citizens to Exercise Caution During Protests in Tirana

The Embassy of the United States in Albania issued a security alert on Wednesday, advising American citizens to exercise caution and avoid protest areas in Tirana.

According to the embassy, demonstrations are taking place along the “Dëshmorët e Kombit” Boulevard, between Skanderbeg Square and Mother Teresa Square, where the Prime Minister’s Office is located.

The embassy also warned that additional protests could take place in the coming days, both in Tirana and in other cities across Albania.

Furthermore, the embassy noted that although demonstrations often begin peacefully, situations can change rapidly. Protests may spread to nearby areas, including other government buildings.

The security notice highlighted the possibility of an increased police presence, road closures, traffic diversions, and transportation disruptions before and during demonstrations.

The embassy advised American citizens to avoid protest sites, remain aware of their surroundings, follow local media reports, and comply with instructions issued by local authorities.

In addition, the embassy encouraged travelers to maintain personal security by limiting distractions in public places, preparing an emergency plan or exit strategy, staying informed about local developments, and keeping a low profile while traveling.
