TIRANA, July 6 – A national programme for preparing businesses for European Union integration was presented on Monday in Tirana. The initiative aims to support Albanian enterprises in adapting to the European single market.
Economy and Innovation Minister Delina Ibrahimaj said Albania is carrying out extensive reforms to meet EU membership obligations. She said economic alignment remains a central pillar of the integration process.
She noted that the European market includes around 450 million consumers. She also stressed high levels of competition within it. She said the government aims to maximise benefits for Albanian businesses while reducing adjustment costs.
The programme focuses on four main pillars. These include business readiness assessment, information and awareness, skills development through training, and competitiveness support through financing, certification, automation, and digital and green transformation.
Earlier, Ibrahimaj said the government continues reforms to improve the business climate. She said startups received 16.5 million euros in funding over the past four years. She also said the SME credit guarantee fund has increased to 250 million euros this year.
She added that the objective is to reach 48,000 enterprises. The plan also includes a national expert network and a unified digital platform for training and certification.
From October, authorities will launch an information campaign. They will directly contact businesses to explain integration requirements and opportunities.
