Albania Launches New Public Administration Reforms to Advance EU Integration

Albania has unveiled a new package of initiatives aimed at modernizing its public administration and strengthening its preparedness for European Union membership.

During Public Administration Week, Minister of State for Public Administration Adea Pirdeni emphasized that the government will prioritize investment in human capital, improve institutional performance, and align Albania’s public administration with EU standards.

The reforms include stronger cooperation with university career offices to attract young professionals into the civil service, as well as a new Welcome Program for newly recruited civil servants to support their integration and professional development.

In addition, Albania will launch a new cooperation program with the European Union to strengthen an EU-oriented administrative culture. A forthcoming agreement with the European Commission will allow Albanian civil servants to gain practical experience by working temporarily within EU institutions.

The government will also implement a new model for organizing state administration, deepen the digitalization of public services, and continue salary reforms, aiming to build a more professional, efficient, and citizen-focused public administration that meets European standards.
