Deputy Speaker Spahiu calls for stronger regional cooperation at parliamentary conference

TIRANA, July 9 – Deputy Speaker of the Albanian Parliament Klodiana Spahiu attended a conference in Belgrade with speakers of parliaments from EU candidate countries.

The Serbian Parliament and Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada hosted the meeting. The event carried the theme “Together in Shaping Europe’s Future.”

During her speech, Spahiu highlighted the role of parliamentary cooperation. She also called for faster progress towards European integration.

Spahiu proposed an annual cooperation format between parliaments. She said the mechanism would strengthen parliamentary dialogue, support the exchange of experience and help advance the EU accession process.

Meanwhile, the deputy speaker stressed that regional cooperation formats should remain open and transparent. She said they should include all countries that aspire to join the European Union.

Spahiu added that Albania has shown commitment and strategic consistency on its European path. She said the country supports a stable region and a safer Europe.
