Kosovo’s acting Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, has launched political consultations following the certification of the election results. On Thursday morning, Kurti sent invitations for meetings to the leaders of the three parliamentary opposition parties — the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), and the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK).
Kurti’s office confirmed to Euronews Albania that the invitations were sent one day after the official certification of the election results.
Through these meetings, the leader of Vetëvendosje aims to open dialogue on the formation of the new institutions emerging from the June 7 elections.
Under Kosovo’s Constitution, the inaugural session of the 11th legislature must be held within 30 days from the start of the constitutional deadline, which began on Wednesday.
In the latest elections, Albin Kurti’s Vetëvendosje Movement secured 53 seats in the Kosovo Assembly, while the Democratic Party of Kosovo won 22 seats, the Democratic League of Kosovo 18 seats, and the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo 7 seats.
