Rama: Socialist MPs and MEPs back Albania’s EU path as opposition votes against recommendations

Prime Minister Edi Rama said Socialist lawmakers and all Members of the European Parliament supported recommendations backing Albania’s European Union membership during the EU–Albania Stabilisation and Association Parliamentary Committee meeting in Strasbourg.

Rama said all MEPs voted in favour of Albania’s European integration, alongside members of the Socialist Party, describing the outcome as strong support for the country’s EU path.

He criticised opposition representatives, saying they voted against the recommendations before leaving the meeting to stage a protest.

The Socialist Party also stated that several amendments proposed by the Democratic Party received support from Socialist representatives, describing the vote as an example of the consensus needed for Albania’s EU accession process.
