TIRANA, July 13 – Albania will face an intense heatwave this week, with temperatures rising steadily from Wednesday and approaching 40°C in several areas.
Speaking on RTSH’s Good Morning Albania programme, Osmani said most of the country will record highs of 37–38°C. He added that some locations could exceed 38°C.
Meanwhile, a hot air mass will spread across southern Europe from midweek. As a result, Thursday and Friday will bring the highest temperatures.
Osmani said the lowlands, including Tirana, will approach 40°C. He identified Elbasan, Berat and Shkodër counties as the hottest areas. He added that Koplik, Elbasan, Belsh, Ura Vajgurore and Kuçova could record temperatures above 40°C.
In addition, Tirana could reach 39°C. He noted that shaded areas, such as the Artificial Lake Park, will feel cooler than open locations like Skanderbeg Square.
Nighttime temperatures will also rise. Minimum values will range from 20°C to 28°C in the Western Lowlands.
Most of the country will remain sunny. However, northeastern areas could receive isolated light showers on Wednesday and Thursday.
Finally, Osmani warned that the hot, dry weather will increase the wildfire risk. He said temperatures may drop by 2–3°C over the weekend, but they will still remain high at 37–38°C.
