Himara is seeing a significant increase in visitors this summer, strengthening its position as one of Albania’s most popular tourist destinations.
The municipality has introduced new measures to improve services, expand public beach areas, increase accessibility and support sustainable tourism development.
Himara Mayor Vangjel Tavo said the city is managing the growing tourist flow through better coordination, regular cleaning, beach monitoring and improved public services.
The municipality has expanded free public beach spaces and increased controls to ensure fair access for all visitors. At the same time, local authorities are working with tourism businesses to maintain a balance between prices and service quality.
This season, Himara also introduced the “Sea Without Barriers” ecological ramp, allowing people with disabilities to enjoy safer and easier access to the sea.
Beyond beaches, the municipality is promoting cultural events, local traditions, gastronomy, agrotourism and adventure tourism to attract visitors throughout the year.
Himara’s long-term goal is to become a 12-month tourist destination by combining its natural beauty with culture, history and sustainable development.
