Egnatia target home victory over Petrocub in Champions League qualifier

TIRANA, July 14 – Albanian champions Egnatia will host Moldova’s Petrocub on Wednesday in the second leg of the first qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League.

The match will kick off at 21:00 at Arena Egnatia in Rrogozhinë. The tie remains open after Egnatia secured a 1-1 draw in the first leg in Moldova.

Meanwhile, Nevil Dede’s side recovered after conceding in the opening minute. Altin Kryeziu scored the equaliser before Egnatia held on despite playing the entire second half with 10 men.

Now, the Albanian champions will look to build on that result in front of their home supporters. A victory would send Egnatia into the next qualifying round of Europe’s premier club competition.

In addition, qualification would mark another important achievement for the club and strengthen Albanian football’s presence in European competitions.
