TIRANA, July 15 – Albania is on the right path in its European integration process, but the next phase will require intensive work, Socialist Party MP Romina Kuko said.
Speaking on RTSH1’s “Trialog” programme hosted by Alba Alishani, Kuko said Albania successfully passed the first stage of negotiations with the European Union. The country provisionally closed 3 negotiation chapters.
Meanwhile, the lawmaker stressed that the main challenge now is implementing reforms and showing concrete results. She said Albania has overcome the “IBAR challenge”, which included meeting intermediate benchmarks.
Kuko explained that progress cannot rely only on adopting EU-related legislation. Institutions must also prove that reforms work in practice and meet European Commission requirements.
In addition, the MP highlighted the importance of the future ratification process by EU member states.
She said Albania must ensure that reforms have real substance and create lasting changes. According to Kuko, the new phase requires commitment, seriousness and less political interpretation.
