Albania’s General Director of the State Police, Skënder Hita, held a working meeting with regional police directors and department heads to assess the public order and security situation and set operational priorities for the period ahead.

The meeting focused on strengthening measures to prevent criminal activity, enhancing security during the tourist season, and ensuring a timely response to issues raised by citizens.

Hita called on all police structures to demonstrate maximum commitment to preventing crime, solving criminal cases promptly, and handling every public complaint with professionalism and responsibility until all procedural and investigative actions are completed.

He also instructed police to improve the effectiveness of public security services, strengthen road safety measures, and increase the police presence on the ground, particularly during the tourist season, to ensure a rapid response and provide assistance to both citizens and tourists.

The Police Chief also stressed the importance of maintaining professional ethics, integrity, and improving the performance of every State Police officer.

During the meeting, Hita ordered intensified efforts to prevent and dismantle cannabis cultivation, both indoors using artificial lighting and in open fields, as well as a continued crackdown on drug trafficking and distribution.

He further instructed police to step up operations against illegal firearm possession, apprehend wanted individuals, crack down on illegal gambling, combat environmental crime, and improve operational results across all areas of policing.

Addressing the wildfire situation, Hita called for maximum engagement in fire prevention efforts, as well as the identification and arrest of those responsible for deliberately starting fires. He stressed that protecting citizens’ lives, property, and the environment remains a key priority for the State Police.

Concluding the meeting, Hita instructed regional police directors and police station commanders to personally lead operations, increase their presence in areas facing security concerns, strengthen the management of their respective structures, and enhance cooperation with other law enforcement agencies to ensure public order and safety across the country.
