Nufi: Defense industry to become a new pillar of economic growth and national security

Defense Minister Ermal Nufi and Deputy Prime Minister Albana Koçiu inspected the construction site of “Guna Tactical”, a major investment in Albania’s defense industry.

The officials reviewed the project’s progress and highlighted its strategic role in creating a modern defense sector that will support economic growth, generate jobs, and strengthen national security.

Nufi said “Guna Tactical” is building a specialized factory that will design and produce clothing and equipment for the Armed Forces, State Police, Prison Police, other security institutions, and NATO partners.

The project will create around 1,200 jobs and introduce advanced technology, expertise, and modern production standards.

Nufi said the investment will connect Albania’s defense industry with international supply chains, improve competitiveness, and reinforce the country’s position as a reliable Euro-Atlantic partner.

The minister added that the government considers the defense industry a strategic priority and aims to transform it into a key driver of economic growth, technological innovation, and national security.

“Investments like this show Albania’s commitment to building a stronger and more competitive defense industry while strengthening cooperation with strategic partners and NATO allies,” Nufi said.
