Czech Member of the European Parliament Tomas Zdechovský has reacted to the recent remarks made by Serbian Minister Snezhana Paunović, describing them as unacceptable and calling for Serbia’s EU accession negotiations to be suspended.

“I was completely shocked by what I heard from Serbia’s minister. It was not just shocking—it was utterly unacceptable. If this woman is truly a minister, Serbia should be removed from the accession negotiations,” Zdechovský said.

The Czech MEP compared the Serbian minister’s remarks to praising the Nazi genocide of Jews after World War II.

“It is as if someone visited Auschwitz after World War II and then claimed that Hitler was the best solution to the Jewish question. This is completely unacceptable. We must send a clear message: no one who uses this kind of rhetoric should be allowed to join the European Union,” he added.

Meanwhile, Kosovo’s Acting Minister of Justice, Donika Gërvalla, announced on Thursday that Kosovo has filed a criminal complaint against Serbian Minister Snezhana Paunović.

Gërvalla said Kosovo will not remain silent in the face of hate speech and calls that incite division. She added that the Office of the Chief State Prosecutor has been requested to undertake all necessary investigative actions, proceed with an indictment, and seek the minister’s prosecution before the competent court.
