Permet to host National ‘NONA’ Festival in August

Prime Minister Edi Rama has invited the public to attend the National “NONA” Festival, which will take place in Përmet from August 7 to 9.

In a social media post, Rama described the festival as a celebration of tradition, gastronomy, and the invaluable role of grandparents. He said the event honors Albania’s cultural heritage while recognizing the love, respect, and wisdom that older generations pass on to their families.

The festival highlights traditional cuisine, local customs, and the important role grandmothers play in preserving family recipes and cultural traditions. It also aims to promote Përmet as a destination for culture, hospitality, and tourism.

The sixth edition of the festival will feature a rich artistic program with singers and musicians from across Albania.

Now an annual tradition, the “NONA” Festival showcases the distinctive cuisine, cultural heritage, and natural beauty of the Përmet region. Every year, it attracts large numbers of Albanian and international visitors.

The festival pays tribute to Albanian grandmothers, especially those from Përmet, for preserving and passing down the traditions of hospitality, home cooking, and local culture from one generation to the next.
