Albania’s inflation reaches 3.2 percent in June

Albania’s annual inflation rate reached 3.2 percent in June 2026, according to the latest data from the Institute of Statistics (INSTAT). The Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices tracks retail prices and aligns with European Union standards.

Food and non-alcoholic beverages made the largest contribution to annual inflation, adding 1.02 percentage points. Prices in this category increased 2.9 percent from a year earlier.

Recreation, sports, and culture recorded the sharpest annual increase at 10.2 percent, while restaurants and accommodation services rose 3.9 percent. Alcoholic beverages and tobacco, transport, and education also pushed inflation higher.

On a monthly basis, consumer prices fell 0.1 percent in June compared with May. Lower transport costs, housing and utility expenses, and cheaper food, clothing, and footwear drove the decline.

Recreation, sports, and culture moved in the opposite direction, with prices rising 3.2 percent during the month. Education and healthcare also recorded modest monthly increases.

INSTAT also introduced a new methodology in line with European Union rules. The updated consumer basket now includes 410 goods and services, while the index uses 2025 as its new base year. The institute says the methodological changes do not affect previously published inflation rates.
