TIRANA, July 22 – Albania will send a platoon from its Armed Forces to a multinational brigade based in Romania.
The decision follows a government approval of a draft decision on the deployment, Defence Minister Ermal Nufi said after the Council of Ministers meeting.
Nufi said the move is part of Albania’s efforts to increase its contribution to international missions. It also supports collective security within the North Atlantic Alliance.
The minister added that Albania will join the multinational brigade as part of the alliance’s measures to strengthen its southeastern flank. The deployment will contribute to security efforts in Romania and the wider region.
Meanwhile, Nufi said the new mission builds on Albania’s previous international commitments. He noted that Albanian Armed Forces personnel will continue to support collective security operations within the framework of NATO.
