TIRANA, July 22 – More than 3,000 citizens received free legal aid during the first six months of the year, according to figures presented by the Ministry of Justice. Justice Minister Toni Gogu said the ministry expanded access to legal aid services across Albania and focused on services directly linked to citizens and the justice system.
Gogu said the justice reform aims to guarantee legal assistance for citizens who face financial difficulties. He stressed that economic barriers should not prevent people from receiving legal protection. During the first half of the year, 3,174 citizens received primary legal aid through ministry offices and service counters across the country.
Meanwhile, courts appointed free lawyers in 604 cases during the same period. Gogu said this figure marked a 38% increase compared with the previous period. He added that the latest data shows wider access to justice services and confirms the role of the free legal aid scheme in supporting citizens in need.
