TIRANA, July 24 – The General Directorate of Archives and the National Agency of Information Society presented ‘eArkiva’, a platform for managing and digitising official documents.
The National Agency of Information Society developed the system under the supervision of the General Directorate of Archives. Initially, ministries and other state institutions will use the platform. Later, the system will expand across the entire public administration.
General Director of Archives Auron Rrokaj and Deputy General Director of the National Agency of Information Society Romina Kostani presented ‘eArkiva’.
Rrokaj said the platform marks an important step towards digital services and a paperless administration. He also announced that the pilot phase will soon begin in several ministries. In addition, he said the digitalisation process will extend to the entire public administration from January 2027.
Meanwhile, Kostani explained that archive digitalisation goes beyond converting documents into electronic format. She said artificial intelligence allows users to search, analyse and process documents more efficiently.
The platform offers a centralised system for electronic document management. It covers the full document lifecycle, from scanning and verification to long-term storage in PDF/A format.
Furthermore, ‘eArkiva’ uses optical character recognition and artificial intelligence to automate document processing. The system aims to reduce time, costs and manual procedures while supporting the modernisation of public administration and public services.
