Albania’s Parliament on Monday approved the US$302 million loan agreement with the United States to finance military equipment during its second plenary session of the day.
The agreement was approved with 74 votes in favour.
The Democratic Party (PD) did not take part in the vote. Before the session began, the party announced that it would boycott the vote, arguing that the procedure violated both the Rules of Procedure of Parliament and the Constitution.
In addition to the governing Socialist Party (PS) MPs, the three MPs from the Social Democratic Party (PSD) also attended the session.
Before the final vote, the parliamentary sitting was temporarily suspended. MPs then voted, with 74 votes in favour, to continue the discussion behind closed doors before proceeding with the approval of the agreement.
