Nufi: US Loan Agreement Ratification Marks Strategic Investment in Security

Albania’s Parliament approved today the direct loan agreement with the United States under the Foreign Military Financing (FMF) programme. Defence Minister Ermal Nufi described the ratification as a historic moment in a social media post.

Nufi said the agreement represents the strongest concrete and financial support Albania has received from the United States since the restoration of diplomatic relations in 1990 and the country’s NATO membership.

He stressed that the agreement is more than a financial instrument. It is a strategic investment in Albania’s national security. According to Nufi, the agreement will strengthen Albania’s role as a committed NATO ally under the NATO 3.0 concept.

It will also help modernise the Armed Forces and expand Albania’s defence capabilities.

Nufi added that the agreement will further deepen Albania’s strategic partnership with the United States, its key ally in security and defence.
