TIRANA, July 28 – Albania and Moldova are strengthening cooperation to modernize customs systems, align procedures with European Union standards, and facilitate trade.

General Director of Customs Besmir Beja met with General Director of Moldova’s Customs Service Radu Vrabie during the first high-level Albania–Moldova meeting. The meeting received support from the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development through the ASYCUDA Program.

The two sides discussed experience sharing and expanded cooperation in information technology. They focused on modernizing customs systems and bringing procedures closer to European Union standards.

Meanwhile, the talks covered strategic projects, including ASY5, the New Computerized Transit System (NCTS Phase 6 – Opt-in), and e-commerce platforms. The initiatives aim to simplify trade procedures, improve customs efficiency, and provide better services for businesses.

Later, the Moldovan delegation will visit the Durrës BCP Customs Branch and the Kakavija BCP Customs Branch. The visits will allow representatives to review Albania’s practices, developments, and solutions in the modernization of customs administration.
