TIRANA, July 30 – Renovation work on the pitch at Air Albania Stadium is nearing completion, while the Albanian Football Association continues the project according to schedule.
The association rebuilt the entire foundation of the pitch to meet modern technical and performance standards. It also completed the installation of a new hybrid surface that complies with UEFA requirements for international matches.
Meanwhile, specialists planted natural grass and continue daily maintenance and monitoring. They aim to prepare the playing surface for official matches in September.
The Albanian Football Association included the project in its broader strategy to modernize the country’s sports infrastructure. The investment also supports preparations for the 2027 UEFA European Under-21 Championship finals, which Albania will co-host with Serbia.
The association said the new pitch will provide one of the region’s most modern playing surfaces. It expects the stadium to host Albania’s national teams, matches during the 2027 UEFA European Under-21 Championship and other major international events.
