Tourism, Culture and Sport Minister Blendi Gonxhja announced that Albania will halt construction works and related activities in tourist areas during the summer season.
The Council of Ministers approved the measure to improve visitors’ experiences and protect the quality of the tourist season.
The decision will prevent construction activities from disturbing tourists in coastal areas and other popular destinations.
Meanwhile, Gonxhja presented new legal measures to simplify tourism procedures. These include electronic visitor registration, certification processes and stricter rules for managing organic waste from hotels and restaurants.
The minister said hotels and restaurants must follow special protocols for organic waste disposal. They cannot throw this waste into public bins at any time of the day.
Gonxhja added that Albania aims to build a more sustainable and high-quality tourism sector. He said the country wants fewer but higher-value visitors who contribute more to the economy and create greater prosperity.
